Starting in September, students at 25 schools in Zhanaozen will be provided with shubat, a traditional drink made from camel milk. This is the first project in Kazakhstan aimed at systematically incorporating the national beverage into schoolchildren’s diets, the Mangystau Region Akimat reports.
The project is primarily designed to promote children’s health and ensure access to natural, high-quality products. The nutritious drink contains protein, calcium, phosphorus, B vitamins and other beneficial nutrients essential for the body.
The project is being implemented following the launch of a new production facility. The 300-square-meter production site has the capacity to produce up to 400 tonnes of products annually.
The facility has established processes for receiving and processing camel milk, producing shubat, as well as bottling and storing the finished product. The launch of the new production facility also creates additional opportunities for local camel-breeding farms by generating stable demand for their products.
On January 12 this year, a facility for producing dry camel milk was launched at the Zhanaozen Dairy Plant. The opening of the new facility for shubat production and bottling is a continuation of efforts to expand the enterprise’s production capacity.
Thus, the Mangystau Region is taking an important step, becoming one of the first regions in the country to introduce a national beverage into the school meal system. Starting in September, students at 25 schools in Zhanaozen will receive natural, locally produced shubat.
The initiative is aimed not only at promoting children’s health, but also at supporting domestic production, developing agriculture and camel farming, and promoting national culinary traditions.
