The group stage of the QAZAQSTAN KUBOGY youth ice hockey tournament is currently underway in the city of Turkistan.
This year’s tournament features 13 teams from different regions of Kazakhstan, divided into three groups. The Cup matches are being held in Pavlodar, Temirtau and Turkistan.
Turkistan is hosting Group C, which includes four teams: Torpedo from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kulager from Petropavl, Almaty and the host team Turan Tigers.
The group stage in Turkistan began with a match between Torpedo and Kulager. At 7:00 p.m., the hosts, Turan Tigers, faced Almaty on home ice. Turkistan Region Governor Nuralhan Kusherov attended the match and showed his support for the players.
The game was particularly significant for local hockey fans, as Turan Tigers are competing on home ice and have begun their campaign for one of Kazakhstan’s most prestigious youth hockey trophies.
The next group-stage matches in Turkistan will also be held at the Ice Palace. On August 28, Turan Tigers will face Torpedo, while on August 30, the Turkistan team will play its final group-stage match against Kulager.
Following the preliminary stage, the top teams will advance to the decisive stage of the tournament. The semifinals and final will be held in Temirtau on September 2–3.
