New schools were commissioned in Turkistan Region on Knowledge Day. One of them was opened in the Kazygyurt district.
Turkistan Region Akim Nuralhan Kusherov attended the opening ceremony of the new building of the 300-seat Sharbulak Comprehensive School in Sharbulak village and congratulated local residents on the occasion.
“During this year’s August conference, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed us to pay particular attention to ensuring quality education and the safety of children. Today, in the sacred Kazygyurt region, a modern school has been commissioned at the request of local residents, resolving the long-standing issue of educational facilities in this village. There are more than 1,000 schools and over 550,000 students in Turkistan Region. We will continue to support the education sector. I sincerely congratulate everyone on the opening of the new building and Knowledge Day,” said Nuralhan Kusherov.
Bolat Kalmurzayev, Head of the Turkistan Region Department of the National Security Committee, and Seidulla Sengirbayev, Chairman of the District Council of Veterans, also congratulated the residents on the occasion.
Local residents, parents and teachers expressed their gratitude to the regional authorities for their support of the education sector.
The total cost of the new school is 1.9 billion tenge. The three-storey building includes a 300-seat canteen, a library with a 30-seat reading room, a sports hall, a workshop, a medical room and modern classrooms. The school is fully equipped with the necessary engineering infrastructure. It has electricity, heating and water supply systems, as well as a sewage system.
The total area of the land plot is 7,125 square metres, while the building covers 4,353 square metres. Construction was fully completed in August 2026.
Following the opening ceremony, the regional Akim and local residents toured the school and familiarized themselves with the new facilities. All necessary conditions have been created for students to receive a quality education. Students from Sharbulak began the new academic year in their new school.
More than 50,000 children in Turkistan Region started first grade this year.
It is worth noting that 14% of Kazakhstan’s educational institutions are located in Turkistan Region. Currently, the region has 1,106 schools, 1,441 preschool organizations, 43 colleges, 42 supplementary education institutions, 40 special education organizations, four children’s homes, three evening schools and two educational and production facilities. More than 550,000 children are receiving education in the region. In other words, one in every seven schoolchildren in Kazakhstan is a resident of Turkistan Region.
In this regard, particular attention is being paid to the development of educational infrastructure in the region. In 2024–2025, 29 “Future Schools” were commissioned in Turkistan Region. In addition, 13 educational facilities are being constructed using the regional budget, with several already completed and commissioned.
Another 58 educational facilities with a total planned capacity of 16,830 student places are scheduled to be commissioned in 2027–2029. These include 40 new schools and 18 additional buildings. The projects are aimed at constructing new schools in three settlements where there are currently no schools, as well as addressing the issues of 15 adobe schools and 20 adapted school buildings.
In addition, renovation and modernization works are being carried out at 115 schools that require major repairs and modernization, in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State. The plans include the modernization of 41 schools in 2025, 38 in 2026 and 36 in 2027.
