The second edition of the Turkistan Region Amateur Football Championship has concluded. The tournament was organized to promote grassroots football and improve the skills of amateur teams across the region.
During the first, regional stage, teams from rural districts competed against each other. A total of 170 teams and nearly 3,200 players took part in the competition.
At the second, regional stage, teams representing three cities and 14 districts of the Turkistan Region were divided into four groups to compete for a place in the playoffs. Following the group stage, the teams from Maktaaral, Shardara, Arys, Kazygurt, Ordabasy, Tulkibas, Turkistan and Sauran advanced to the next round.
In the third-place match, the Tulkibas team defeated Ordabasy 2–0 to claim the bronze medal.
The final brought together the teams from Maktaaral and Turkistan. The decisive match was held at Turkistan Arena stadium in the regional capital, offering fans an exciting contest.
The final was attended by Nuraly Abishov, President of the Turkistan Region Football Federation, Galymzhan Khudiyarov, Head of the Regional Department of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as representatives and supporters of the region’s sporting community.
In the final, Maktaaral defeated the Turkistan city team 3–1 to become the champion of the Turkistan Region Amateur Football Championship.
Along with the regional title, Maktaaral earned a place in the Kazakhstan national championship.
Following the tournament, the winners and medalists were presented with a challenge cup and medals.
The championship gave further momentum to the development of amateur football in the region and increased competition among teams from rural communities, districts and cities.
