The international observer mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) recognised the elections of Kurultai deputies held in Kazakhstan as open, credible and consistent with democratic principles.
Speaking at a press conference at the Centre for Assistance to International Observers, SCO Deputy Secretary-General T.R. Midhun noted that inviting international observers demonstrates Kazakhstan’s commitment to ensuring maximum openness and transparency throughout the electoral process.
According to him, the mission consisted of 17 observers from six SCO member states.
The mission conducted its observation in accordance with its own methodology, based on the principles of objectivity, political neutrality, openness and transparency.
The observers worked in Astana and the Akmola Region, visiting a total of 102 polling stations.
