Turkistan Region Governor Nuralkhan Kusherov met with residents of Kentau and held a public reception to discuss local issues and development priorities.
During the meeting, Kentau Mayor Zhandos Tassov presented a report on the city’s socio-economic performance. In the first half of 2026, Kentau’s gross regional product reached KZT 43.5 billion, representing a 5.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Investments in fixed capital totaled KZT 15.3 billion, while overall investment inflows rose to 117%.
Industrial output amounted to KZT 26.2 billion, including KZT 20.5 billion from the manufacturing sector. Agricultural production reached 114.8%, with livestock production increasing to 117.7%.
Small and medium-sized businesses continue to grow, with 5,797 registered enterprises currently operating in the city. The unemployment rate stands at 4.6%.
Kentau has 32 schools, with no emergency-condition or three-shift schools. Preschool education coverage has reached 99.6%, while healthcare services are provided by 13 medical institutions.
Infrastructure development also continues across the city. Three settlements have been connected to the natural gas network, bringing the total number of subscribers to 17,000. In addition, 120 mortgage-financed apartments have been commissioned, construction activity has increased by 20.8%, and locally generated budget revenues now account for 31.4% of the city’s budget.
Other completed projects include the full replacement of water supply pipelines on 14 streets in the Bolashak residential area, the rehabilitation of 3.5 kilometers of roads across five streets in Karnak village, and the modernization of 54 kilometers of the city’s heating network.
Following the meeting, Governor Kusherov held a personal reception for residents. Citizens raised issues related to gas supply, road repairs, public infrastructure, housing, and land allocation. Some concerns have already been resolved, while work on the remaining issues is ongoing. The governor emphasized that addressing residents’ concerns remains a priority for the regional administration.
