Kazakhstan has completed the main construction phase of the Trans-Caspian submarine fiber-optic cable project, one of the country’s largest telecommunications infrastructure initiatives.
The undersea cable has successfully reached Kazakhstan’s shoreline, marking the completion of the project’s most technically challenging stage. The project is being implemented jointly by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International.
The new Aktau–Sumgayit route will connect the digital infrastructures of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, creating a high-speed data corridor between Asia and Europe. The project is expected to enhance the reliability of international communications while strengthening the transit potential of both countries.
The completion of the offshore construction phase was inspected aboard the cable-laying vessel by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhtelecom Bagdat Mussin, and AzerTelecom International CEO Ana Nakashidze.
