A major transport and logistics complex operated by Kusto Logistics has been launched in the Ili District of Almaty Region. The new center will handle the reception, storage, processing and transportation of cargo.
The multimodal complex covers an area of more than 26.5 hectares and includes railway infrastructure, a container yard, two warehouses, loading and unloading areas, road logistics facilities and a centralized management center, according to the Akimat of Almaty Region.
The terminal has the capacity to process up to 100,000 containers per year. The project is expected to create 100 new jobs, with total investment reaching 28.1 billion tenge.
The opening ceremony was attended by Almaty Region Akim Marat Sultangaziyev, Kusto Group co-founder and shareholder Kanat Kopbayev, representatives of companies involved in the project and industry specialists.
Marat Sultangaziyev highlighted the importance of the new logistics center for the region. According to him, the facility will contribute to job creation, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, expansion of the tax base and economic growth in the region.
Kanat Kopbayev, co-founder and shareholder of Kusto Group, noted that the company was established only three years ago but has already managed to implement several major projects.
During the opening ceremony, guests were shown how the logistics complex operates. The first container train also departed from the terminal, marking the official start of its operations.
Complex can process more than 111,000 tonnes of cargo per month
The logistics center is equipped with a specialized crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes. It can handle up to 25 containers per hour.

Construction of a grain terminal has also begun on the site. Once completed, the facility will be able to store up to 14,000 tonnes of agricultural products.
The project was constructed by Coteccons KZ using the EPC model.
The launch of the new logistics center will expand Almaty Region’s cargo transportation capacity and simplify the processes of receiving, storing and further shipping goods.
The facility is also expected to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s trade links and improve the efficiency of freight transportation for businesses.
