Archers from Shymkent have achieved strong results at international competitions, demonstrating a high level of sporting excellence and proudly representing Kazakhstan on the international stage.
In March this year, athletes from Shymkent won several medals at the Asia Cup in archery held in Bangkok, Thailand. Roxana Yunusova and Diana Yunusova claimed gold in the team event. In the recurve archery competition, Dastan Karimov and Diana Tursynbek also became winners in the team category.
From March 31 to April 4, Bangkok hosted the Asia Cup in Para Archery. Shymkent athletes Zhanat Aitimova and Aiyım Seidakhmetova took second place in the team event, winning silver medals.
In addition, last year at the World Archery Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, Roxana Yunusova won a bronze medal in the team event. Her achievement once again demonstrated her high level of skill and preparation on the international stage.
Today, Shymkent Deputy Akim Sarsen Kuranbek met with representatives of the city’s archery community who achieved outstanding results and honored them for their successful performances.
Sarsen Abayuly noted that Shymkent athletes had returned to the World Championship podium after a 32-year break. He also emphasized that the city is creating the necessary conditions for athletes to train and achieve high-level results.
As part of the ceremony, the Deputy Akim presented Roxana Yunusova with a cash award of 1 million tenge. The Asia Cup winners received 300,000 tenge each, while the silver medalists of the Asia Cup in Para Archery were awarded 200,000 tenge each.
The athletes’ outstanding performances at international competitions are the result of their professional dedication, hard work and the contribution of their coaches.
