In Akmola Region, two workers are suspected of stealing equipment, leaving an entire village without water, Polisia.kz reports.
A diesel generator was installed in 2025 on the outskirts of a settlement in Bulandy District. It ensured the uninterrupted operation of water supply networks and wells providing residents with drinking water.
According to investigators, the suspects had previously worked in the area of the facility and therefore knew where the generator was located and how the site was secured.
According to the investigation, in April the men agreed to steal the equipment. Using a vehicle, a winch and other tools, they dismantled and removed the generator, which was worth nearly 7 million tenge. Its removal disrupted the operation of the water supply system.
On May 6, one of the men suggested that his accomplice return to the company’s premises. This time, according to investigators, they stole components for a diesel unit worth more than 400,000 tenge.
Patrol officers found and seized the stolen equipment. The investigation is ongoing.
It is worth noting that we previously reported that a man in Kostanay was convicted of attempting to commit a theft for $100.
