SHYMKENT. A court hearing has been held in Shymkent in the criminal case concerning the death of Vasily Kolesnikov, which has drawn significant public attention.
During the hearing, the state prosecutor read out the initial indictment.
According to the case materials, the defendants — Arysbayev, Kyzylbayev, Zhumanazarov, Daulasov, Inkarbekov and Yerinbet, as well as a person known as “Bakha,” whose identity was established during the investigation — are accused of allegedly conspiring to commit a crime against Kolesnikov.
According to the prosecution, the group developed a plan aimed at the intentional killing of the victim. Investigators allege that the participants understood that bystanders might attempt to resist and had therefore planned their actions in advance.
The victim’s legal representatives fully support the prosecution’s position. According to lawyer Talgat Yesimov, several possible motives are being considered, including possible revenge against Kolesnikov or an attempt to protect another person. The exact circumstances and motive of the crime will ultimately be determined by the court.
“The fact remains that Kolesnikov was abducted in the city centre and killed with particular brutality. I believe those involved in the crime should be held accountable under the law,” the lawyer said.
During the preliminary hearing, the court considered motions submitted by the parties and set a date for the main trial. The proceedings in the high-profile criminal case will be held in open court.
The victim’s side is seeking a fair verdict and full legal accountability for everyone allegedly involved in the crime. The defendants’ guilt, however, can only be conclusively established by a court judgment that has entered into legal force.
