The U17 World Wrestling Championships have concluded in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Representing Kazakhstan, Shymkent athlete Mardan Orynbasar claimed the bronze medal in the 60 kg weight category.
On his way to the podium, Orynbasar secured convincing victories over opponents from North Macedonia and Israel. In the bronze medal match against a Georgian wrestler, he suffered an elbow injury but demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience, holding on to his lead to secure a place on the podium.
Upon returning home, the young wrestler received a warm welcome from his family, friends, fans, and representatives of Shymkent’s sporting community.
Mardan Orynbasar’s achievement reflects years of dedicated training, perseverance, and strong competitive spirit. Officials from the city’s Sports Department and the Wrestling Federation expressed confidence that Shymkent’s athletes will continue to achieve success and represent Kazakhstan with distinction at future international competitions.
