Shymkent is carrying out preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year across all key areas.
Strengthening the material and technical base of educational institutions, providing social support to students, organizing school admissions and creating a safe learning environment are among the city’s main priorities.
Applications for first grade are being accepted at all schools across the city from June 18 to August 31. More than 16,000 children have already been enrolled in first grade. Children who completed pre-school preparatory classes at their respective schools are being automatically enrolled in first grade.
Special attention is being paid to social support measures ahead of the new academic year. In accordance with a resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, each student from a socially vulnerable group is expected to receive financial assistance of 51,000 tenge to purchase school supplies. More than 3.4 billion tenge has been allocated for this purpose.
The financial assistance will be provided to children from families receiving targeted social assistance and low-income families, orphans and children left without parental care, as well as children from families affected by emergencies. Support will also be available to other categories of students identified by a special commission.
Work to modernize educational infrastructure is also continuing. This year, major renovations are being carried out at seven educational facilities. In addition, design and cost estimates are being prepared for renovation works at eight more schools and the Sairam Auxiliary Boarding School-College next year.
Last academic year, two new schools were commissioned, while the construction of additional educational buildings was completed at several schools. Construction of additional buildings is currently underway at five more schools.
Efforts to ensure children’s safety and digitalize the education system have also gained momentum. As part of the AIQYN project, a biometric monitoring system has been introduced, helping to optimize budget spending. Video analytics are being used to continuously monitor safety in schools and the quality of lessons. Hundreds of lessons have been analyzed through online monitoring, and teachers have received methodological support.
The Qarqyn unified digital platform has fully digitized 12 key areas of the education system. These include school safety, biometric monitoring, meal organization, lesson quality monitoring, accounting, payroll, public services, the state education order and student enrollment management.
The system’s analysis identified discrepancies in financing, teaching workloads and student enrollment data. Work is now underway to address these discrepancies and bring the relevant data into line.
Preparations for the new academic year are also continuing in preschool education institutions. The volume of the state educational order is being increased, while new places are being created in private kindergartens. At the same time, referrals to preschool organizations are being issued in stages through the Balabaqsha information system.
All these measures being implemented in Shymkent’s education sector are aimed at ensuring an organized start to the new academic year, providing high-quality educational services and creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for students.
