Shymkent is continuing preparations for the 2026–2027 heating season.
The main goal is to ensure reliable operation of the city’s heating system and prevent breakdowns during the autumn-winter period.
As part of the preparations, hydraulic tests were carried out on main and intra-district heating networks. The tests identified 135 defects, of which 90 have already been repaired. Restoration work on the remaining sections is being carried out according to the approved schedule.
Preparations are also underway for 31 autonomous boiler houses and 17 pumping stations. In addition, 2,241 apartment buildings and 464 public-sector facilities are being prepared for the heating season.
Particular attention is being paid to the modernization of the city’s heating infrastructure. Repair work is currently underway on 18.5 kilometers of heating networks. So far, 9 kilometers of old pipelines have been dismantled, while 1.4 kilometers of new pipelines have been installed. The work is scheduled to be completed within the established timeframe.
Under the national project “Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors,” six of the most heavily worn sections of the main heating networks, with a total length of 11.3 kilometers, are scheduled for reconstruction. The project is planned to be implemented in stages from 2026 to 2029.
The comprehensive preparations are expected to improve the reliability of the heating system, reduce the deterioration of heating networks and ensure a stable heating season ahead.
