A major step has been taken to address the long-standing issue of dilapidated housing in Zhetisay.
Zhetisay District Akim Serik Mamytov handed over the keys to new apartments to residents of Buildings No. 27 and No. 29 on M. Auezov Street, which were included in the renovation program.
The two-story buildings, constructed in 1954–1957, had not undergone major repairs for many years. Over time, the buildings deteriorated significantly and reached an unsafe condition. Cracks appeared in the walls, plaster began to fall off, while the roofs and floors became unfit for use. The safety of the 16 families living in the buildings had become a pressing concern.
After thoroughly assessing the residents’ situation, the district administration and members of the district maslikhat considered possible solutions. As a result, a decision was made to provide the residents of the dilapidated buildings with new housing.
Construction of the new residential building began last year. During the construction period, the residents were temporarily accommodated in rented apartments, with their rent covered by the state. With construction now completed, all 16 families have moved into new, comfortable apartments.
The ceremony to hand over the apartment keys was attended by District Maslikhat Chairman Medet Kassymov, local elders and residents.
Congratulating the families on the occasion, District Akim Serik Usenuly emphasized that the main goal of the project is to ensure safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
The new homeowners expressed their gratitude and joy. For families who had lived for years with concerns over the condition of their homes, receiving new apartments marked the fulfillment of a long-awaited dream.
Work to improve housing conditions in Zhetisay District will continue. In 2022, 14,208 square meters of housing were commissioned in the district. By the end of last year, this figure had increased 2.1 times, and 240 citizens on the housing waiting list received apartments.
Today, nearly 50,000 people live in Zhetisay city, which has 133 apartment buildings accommodating around 1,500 residents. Systematic efforts are underway to modernize the city’s housing stock and improve the condition of apartment buildings.
In accordance with the district akim’s instructions, explanatory work is being carried out with residents, and a number of issues related to the modernization of condominium properties are being addressed. Currently, 71 apartment buildings have obtained state registration acts, with 44 receiving positive conclusions. Land management projects have also been prepared for 18 buildings.
Going forward, apartment buildings in the district center are expected to undergo major renovations in stages, in accordance with established requirements.
