President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening ceremony of the III International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, which is being held in Astana.
In his address, the Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan has made a strategic choice in favor of digital development and continues to strengthen its position in the field of advanced technologies.
“Kazakhstan ranks 24th among 193 countries in the United Nations E-Government Development Index. In terms of readiness to implement new technologies, our country is a leader in Central Asia. We are creating a unified innovation ecosystem where artificial intelligence is becoming a key tool for public administration, economic development, business, and other areas of public life,” the President said.
Tokayev recalled that in his Address last year, he set the task of transforming Kazakhstan into a fully digital state within three years.
According to him, declaring 2026 the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence became another step toward implementing this strategy.
The President also noted that the key directions of the country’s innovation-driven development are enshrined in the new Constitution of Kazakhstan, which came into force on July 1.
“This is only the beginning of large-scale transformations,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
