A man in Kostanay who had outstanding alimony payments has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for attacking a private bailiff. He will serve his sentence at a medium-security correctional facility.
The criminal case was heard by the Specialized Inter-District Court for Criminal Cases of the Kostanay Region with the participation of a jury.
The defendant had previously worked in law enforcement. According to the case materials, he planned the attack on private bailiff Zhansulu Khamzina in advance.
According to the prosecution, the former operative left two mobile phones at home in an attempt to conceal his whereabouts and create a false alibi. He then took a kitchen knife, put on a hood, and followed a route with fewer surveillance cameras.
When the bailiff was preparing to leave in her car, the man secretly entered the back seat. He then attacked the woman, stabbing her several times in the face and neck area.
The victim resisted the attack. During the struggle, the knife broke, allowing her to escape from the vehicle and seek help.
After examining the evidence and arguments presented by the parties, the court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
The verdict may be appealed in accordance with the procedure established by law.
