Kazakhstan has successfully completed its nationwide campaign against gregarious locust species, with no damage reported to agricultural crops. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, protective measures covered 1.8 million hectares and were carried out on schedule while meeting all quality standards.
Speaking at a briefing hosted by the Central Communications Service, Saken Kanybekov, Chairman of the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex, said the anti-locust campaign had been completed successfully across the country.
A total of 556 specialized spraying vehicles were deployed during the operation, representing a 25% increase compared to last year. Around 3,500 specialists participated in field surveys, significantly strengthening Kazakhstan’s phytosanitary monitoring system.
Authorities used highly effective pesticides to treat affected areas. To improve communication with the public, a dedicated call center and Telegram bot were launched to process reports related to locust activity. Regional emergency headquarters also coordinated the work of all relevant agencies throughout the campaign.
According to Kanybekov, no cases of crop damage were recorded during this year’s operation.
The chairman also noted that the phytosanitary situation in Kazakhstan’s border regions remains stable. No cross-border migration of gregarious locusts has been detected.
Locust control is considered a key component of Kazakhstan’s food security strategy, helping protect agricultural production and reduce the risk of significant crop losses.
