A ceremony to sign an Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was held in Riyadh.
The signing of the agreement strengthens the existing regulatory framework in civil aviation and creates additional opportunities to develop regular air services between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev and Suleiman bin Ahmed Al Bassam, Acting President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement is expected to further strengthen trade, economic and business ties between the two countries, attract investment, and promote tourism and cultural cooperation.
Under the new arrangements, the number of permitted regular flights has been increased from 28 to 70 per week.
Air carriers are planning to launch direct scheduled flights between Astana and Riyadh, as well as increase the number of routes connecting Kazakhstan with other cities in Saudi Arabia.
