Kazakh judokas have achieved a historic result at the World Junior Judo Championships.
At the World Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Kazakhstan’s team won a gold medal in the mixed team event for the first time.
In the individual events, Kazakh athletes won 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals, securing a total of 10 medals.
The boys’ team took first place in the team standings.
The girls’ team finished second.
Fatima Supygalieva also made history as the first Kazakh female judoka to become a world junior champion.
According to Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov, the result demonstrates the effectiveness of a unified athlete development system, from junior teams to the national squad.
