A creative fair showcasing products from the Almaty Region was held on August 8–9 at the Qazaq Creative Hub in Astana as part of the national Creative Aimaq project.
The fair featured products from various areas of the creative industries, including jewelry, wood and leather goods, national textiles, clothing and accessories, syrmaq, bags, wallets, belts, souvenirs, decorative panels and works of fine art.
Paintings by regional artists attracted particular attention from visitors. The most expensive artwork was sold for 5 million tenge, while another painting was purchased for 1 million tenge. Prices for other handicrafts, national clothing, accessories and souvenir items ranged from 73,000 to 550,000 tenge.
In addition to the exhibition and sales, visitors took part in interactive workshops on jewelry making, felt and wool processing, ceramics, woodworking and leatherworking, traditional ornamentation and musical instrument making.
The event also featured a presentation of the project “Almaty Region: Tradition and Creativity.” The programme concluded with the “Onerli Olke” concert, which brought together traditional music and performing arts, folklore and contemporary creative groups from the region.
Following the two-day fair, creative entrepreneurs from the Almaty Region sold products worth more than 9 million tenge in total. The event attracted around 2,000 residents and visitors to the capital.
The Creative Aimaq project is aimed at promoting regional creative entrepreneurs, expanding sales channels for their products and creating opportunities to commercialize creative work.
To date, Creative Aimaq fairs have been held in eight regions of Kazakhstan. A total of 352 creative entrepreneurs have taken part in the events, reaching 20,690 people, while total sales of creative products have amounted to 42.955 million tenge.
