A 42-year-old mother of four died in her apartment in Atyrau Region. According to preliminary information, a man who lived with the woman has been identified as a suspect in the tragedy. The incident was witnessed by her three-year-old daughter.
The tragedy occurred in an apartment on the fifth floor of a multi-storey residential building. Neighbors said they did not hear any shouting or noise that day. In the evening, the woman’s 16-year-old daughter found her mother in a critical condition. At that moment, the three-year-old child was sleeping nearby.
According to the victim’s relative, Fatima Shmirova, the young girl initially did not say anything about what had happened. Later, she reportedly said that her father had attacked her mother with a knife.
“My older granddaughter could not approach her mother. She is only 16 years old. The little girl did not say anything at first. Later, she said: ‘My father hit my mother with a knife.’ She showed how it happened and also told police officers: ‘My father hit my mother, my mother screamed. I cried. When I started crying very loudly, my father ran away,’” Fatima Shmirova said.
The 38-year-old suspect had been in a civil relationship with the deceased, Almagul Shmirova, for six years. The woman had two adult daughters from a previous marriage, who lived separately. Her two younger daughters lived with her.
According to relatives, 28 stab wounds were found on the woman’s body.
According to Meirim Yerdaulet, the official representative of the Atyrau Region Police Department, a 38-year-old man suspected of killing the woman during a domestic dispute was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
A criminal case has been opened under the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on “Murder,” and investigative proceedings are currently underway.
