In Kazakhstan’s technical and vocational education system, 70% of the state-funded educational quota has been redirected toward technical specialties.
“Kazakhstan currently has 763 colleges with 556,000 students enrolled. To ensure broader access to technical and vocational education, 133,000 students are expected to enroll in colleges under the state educational order this year. Seventy percent of the state-funded places will be allocated to training specialists in technical fields. More than 10,000 students are expected to be enrolled at the request of enterprises, with guaranteed employment upon graduation,” Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova said at a Government meeting.
The Minister also noted that around 500 educational programmes have been updated jointly with employers based on WorldSkills standards, the State Compulsory Educational Standards and professional standards.
In addition, 27 colleges have undergone international industry accreditation. As a result, 134 teachers and 347 students received internationally recognized certificates.
Since the beginning of the year, around 80 agreements have been signed with foreign educational institutions on academic mobility programmes, further expanding opportunities for students and teachers to gain international educational experience.
