The Yasawi Caravan educational seminar, launched with the direct support of Turkistan Region Governor Nuralkhan Kusherov, was held in the Zhetysai District. The initiative aims to promote the spiritual and cultural legacy of the renowned philosopher and prominent Sufi scholar Khoja Ahmed Yasawi through academic and public outreach.
The event brought together Deputy Governor of Turkistan Region Ertai Altayev, Professor and Doctor of Theology at Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University Dosay Kenzhetay, Deputy Director of the Azret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Murat Tastanbekov, Deputy Akim of Zhetysai District Serik Pirimbekov, as well as leading scholars, religious experts, members of the intellectual community, public officials, and local residents.
The seminar was organized as part of the implementation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to promote the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi both across Kazakhstan and internationally. It served as an important platform for discussing the preservation and revival of the nation’s spiritual heritage.
Speakers highlighted the enduring significance of Yasawi’s teachings in the spiritual life of the Kazakh people and emphasized their relevance to modern society. Particular attention was given to the philosopher’s message of morality, faith, justice, patience, and compassion, which continues to play an important role in educating younger generations.
Participants noted that the Yasawi Caravan project seeks not only to introduce the historical figure of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi to a wider audience but also to promote his spiritual school and teachings, deeply rooted in Kazakhstan’s traditional values and national identity.
Experts stressed that Yasawi’s philosophy contributes to strengthening social unity, reinforcing national identity, and protecting young people from the influence of extremist and destructive religious ideologies.
During the seminar, participants exchanged views on spiritual education, the preservation of national values, and the continuity of traditional religion and culture. Experts also answered questions from attendees, emphasizing the importance of expanding public awareness of Yasawi’s intellectual and spiritual legacy.
