The “Yasawi Caravan” scientific and educational seminar, dedicated to promoting the spiritual and philosophical legacy of the renowned Sufi scholar Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, was held at the House of Friendship in the city of Turkistan.
The large-scale educational initiative was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiatives aimed at preserving national values and promoting the legacy of outstanding historical figures.
The event brought together Deputy Akim of the Turkistan Region Ertai Altaev, representatives of government agencies, scholars, theologians, experts in religious studies, members of the intellectual community, young people, and media representatives.
The seminar was moderated by Yerlan Dakenov, Director of the Azret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. He emphasized that Khoja Ahmed Yasawi’s spiritual heritage plays a vital role in strengthening national identity and educating younger generations in the values of morality, humanity, and patriotism.
Chairman of the Turkistan Regional Maslikhat Nurali Abishev highlighted the importance of studying and promoting Yasawi’s legacy in line with the priorities set by the Head of State. He also conveyed greetings and a congratulatory message from the regional leadership. According to him, the “Yasawi Caravan” project contributes to strengthening historical awareness, promoting national values, and reinforcing the spiritual unity of society.
During the seminar, Professor Dosay Kenzhetay of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Doctor of Theology, delivered a presentation entitled “The Historical and Spiritual Significance of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi’s Heritage.” He discussed the philosopher’s influential role in the Turkic world and the continued relevance of his teachings in modern society.
Associate Professor and religious studies scholar Serzhan Orazbay presented a report titled “Spiritual Values in Yasawi’s Hikmets,” explaining the educational significance of the famous work Divan-i Hikmet and its messages of morality, faith, and spiritual development.
The organizers noted that the “Yasawi Caravan” project aims to preserve Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage, strengthen spiritual values, and inspire greater public interest—especially among young people—in the country’s rich historical legacy.
