Court proceedings in the criminal case surrounding the death of Nurai Serikbai are ongoing.
During the latest hearing, the court heard testimony from an eyewitness as well as members of the victim’s family, revealing new details about the events surrounding the incident.
According to the eyewitness, he saw the suspect stab Nurai several times. He testified that he first heard shouting and noticed a young man running away, initially believing that a fight had taken place. When he looked closer, he saw a young woman lying on the ground. The witness stated that the man then returned, pulled out a knife, and stabbed her several more times.
The eyewitness told the court that he was so shocked by what he saw that he froze for several seconds and was unable to react.
The victim’s brothers also gave testimony. They stated that after learning about the alleged abduction of their sister, they went to the suspect’s home but were not allowed to enter. According to them, people at the house behaved aggressively despite the presence of police officers.
Nurai’s brother, Dinmukhammed Serikbai, questioned the actions of law enforcement officers. He testified that one man was allowed to leave the suspect’s house without any restrictions while family members were prevented from entering. According to information presented during the hearing, a police officer explained that the man was an officer working in plain clothes.
At an earlier hearing, the suspect stated that he could not remember stabbing Nurai Serikbai. During the latest session, he maintained the same position.
The court also heard testimony from additional witnesses. The victim’s relatives once again called for an open, transparent, and fair trial.
