The President received Ibrahim Zhanlyel, CEO of Air Astana.
During the meeting, the Head of State, Ibrahim Zhanlyel, was given information about the operational and financial performance of Air Astana, a leading company in Central Asia and the Caucasus. It was reported to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that Air Astana is planning to replenish its fleet with new generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2026-2027. The company ordered 50 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft and 15 Boeing 787-9 aircraft. They will be delivered until 2036.
Ibrahim Zhanlyel presented the company’s long-term development strategy to the President. This document is aimed at strengthening the position of Kazakhstan as a regional aviation hub and expanding the company’s activities at the international level. Air Astana plans to increase the number of routes, develop multimodal transportation, and increase the frequency of flights. Emphasis is placed on digitization and introduction of new technologies.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of effective implementation of strategic goals, such as replenishment of the air fleet, increasing the route network and strengthening the transportation potential. The President named the organization of direct air transport with the USA and Japan as a priority.
The head of the state paid attention to the issues that are constantly criticized by passengers, such as flight delays and board changes, and called for the development of air transport with countries where Kazakhstanis often travel.
