Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made an address on the occasion of the entry into force of the new Constitution of Kazakhstan.
Dear compatriots! The entry into legal force of our new Constitution is an extremely important event for our country. Congratulations to all of you! A new era in the history of independent Kazakhstan begins today. We are entering the avenue of political and economic reforms, large-scale changes and rapid development. This special day marks the beginning of the period of fundamental modernization of the entire political system of the country, as well as the main institutions of the state and civil society. In the nationwide referendum held on March 15, the people of Kazakhstan made a choice that will directly influence the country’s destiny and determine the development direction of the state for decades. Millions of our compatriots showed a blessed unity and showed an excellent example of true patriotism and high responsibility. It is clear that this historical decision will be written in golden letters in our genealogy. From now on, the Constitution Day will be celebrated together with the “Nauryznama” decade. This has a great symbolic value. Constitution Day combines the traditions of spring renewal, which have been established in the country for centuries, with the main principles of the Constitution, that is, it resonates with the desire of our citizens for strong solidarity, advanced education, and honest work for the welfare of the country. We rely on the unshakable legal basis of the real People’s Constitution and will definitely achieve all our goals. We firmly establish the creative values of Law and Order, Diligence and Ascension, Cleanliness and Protecting Nature in the society. I have no doubt about it. As a united nation, we will conquer the pinnacle of world civilization, create a state that will provide equal opportunities to all and pave the way for all-round development of all citizens – A Just Kazakhstan! We will carry out our plans to beautify our beloved homeland. I totally believe it! Let the Republic of Kazakhstan do it! May our people do it forever!
