President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has launched the construction of three strategically important highways – Kyzylorda–Sekseuil, Ulgaysyn–Sekseuil and Beineu–Sekseuil – via a teleconference.
The projects are aimed at modernizing Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure, strengthening interregional connectivity and ensuring safer and more convenient travel for the population.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, President Tokayev emphasized the strategic importance of the transport and logistics sector for Kazakhstan’s economic development. He noted that the country, located at the crossroads of major international transport routes, has significant potential to become a leading transit hub in Eurasia.
“Roads are the lifeblood of development. The state has always paid close attention to the development of this sector. Our goal is to develop Kazakhstan as a major transit hub in Eurasia. As you know, our country serves as a key bridge connecting Europe and Asia. A significant share of overland cargo transported between East and West passes through Kazakhstan,” the President said.
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the creation of an advanced and modern transport system is one of Kazakhstan’s strategic priorities. He stressed that substantial work is already underway in this area.
Last year, the second railway track on the Dostyk–Moyynty route was commissioned, increasing freight transportation capacity fivefold. In addition, a railway bypass around Almaty became operational, significantly reducing cargo delivery times.
The President also highlighted the importance of implementing large-scale infrastructure projects using the expertise and capabilities of Kazakhstani specialists.
“These large-scale projects are being implemented by our own professionals,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Head of State noted that the ongoing infrastructure development demonstrates Kazakhstan’s strong potential in the transport and logistics sector. He also pointed out that road construction and rehabilitation projects are currently underway across the country.
The construction of the Kyzylorda–Sekseuil, Ulgaysyn–Sekseuil and Beineu–Sekseuil highways is expected to further improve transport connectivity, support regional development and strengthen Kazakhstan’s role as an important link in international transit corridors.
