In Shymkent, players of the Ordabasy football club came to the Kazhymukan Central Stadium to cast their ballots in Kazakhstan’s first-ever elections to the Kurultai.
Footballers Sergey Maly, Sultanbek Astanov, Zhasulan Amir, Magzhan Toktybai, Elkhan Astanov, and other members of the team voted at polling station No. 90.
“Support and attention from Shymkent fans during our matches give us special strength. We have a huge number of supporters. Football is a mass sport, and the Kurultai elections are also an important political event where decisions are made collectively. Therefore, we call on all citizens to act responsibly and cast their votes,” said goalkeeper Bekhan Shaizada.
It is worth noting that Ordabasy currently sits near the top of the Kazakhstan Premier League table. Local footballers took an active part in the Kurultai elections, which are being held for the first time in the country’s history.
The chairwoman of Polling Station Commission No. 90, Bakytkul Nalibayeva, noted that citizens are showing high voter turnout.
