TURKISTAN, Kazakhstan — Authorities in the Turkistan Region continue to implement large-scale employment programs aimed at boosting job creation, expanding industrial production, and reducing unemployment. Since the beginning of 2026, the region has created 59,979 new jobs.
The region’s population has reached 2,146,665, with 837,990 people currently employed and 40,088 officially registered as unemployed.
Under the Regional Job Creation Roadmap, local authorities plan to create 74,516 new jobs by the end of the year.
In addition, 284 infrastructure projects are being implemented under Kazakhstan’s national projects and state development programs approved by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. These projects are expected to generate 2,465 jobs. So far, 217 projects have been completed or are underway, creating 1,967 new jobs.
As part of the President’s initiative to create 100 new jobs for every 10,000 residents, the region has already generated 10,211 jobs.
To improve workforce skills, 4,407 residents completed online training courses through the Enbek.kz platform and received professional certificates in occupations that are in demand on the labor market.
The government is also supporting entrepreneurship through grant funding. This year, 1,450 people are expected to receive state grants worth 400 monthly calculation indices (MCI) each, with total funding amounting to approximately 2.5 billion tenge.
According to first-quarter 2026 data, the unemployment rate in Turkistan Region stood at 4.6%. Youth unemployment was 1.9%, while unemployment among women reached 5.0%.
As part of social support measures, 43,818 low-income residents received targeted social assistance totaling 3.6 billion tenge. Compared with the previous year, the number of beneficiaries declined by 68.6%.
Additionally, 4,359 people were employed through subsidized social jobs, while 4,291 young people secured employment under the Youth Practice program.
