Since the beginning of the year, more than 400 residents of Shymkent who suffered strokes have received medical rehabilitation services within the framework of the Mandatory Social Health Insurance (MSHI) system.
According to medical specialists, rehabilitation after a stroke is one of the most important stages of the recovery process. Timely rehabilitation assistance helps patients restore mobility, regain the ability to walk independently, and adapt to everyday life.
“Medical rehabilitation plays a crucial role after strokes, severe injuries, and complex surgeries. Therefore, this area receives special attention within the insurance system. The main goal is to create conditions for patients to return to a normal and active life as much as possible,” said Arapkүл Izbassarova, Deputy Director of the Shymkent branch of the Social Health Insurance Fund.
Currently, around 30 medical organizations in Shymkent provide rehabilitation services under the MSHI system in various areas, including cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, traumatology, pulmonology, and general rehabilitation.
Since the beginning of the year, nearly 10,000 rehabilitation services have been provided at rehabilitation centers across the city. These services are available not only for stroke patients but also for people recovering from serious injuries, cardiac surgeries, and chronic illnesses.
Medical rehabilitation services for children are also expanding. Children with cerebral palsy, congenital musculoskeletal disorders, and other health conditions receive the necessary rehabilitation support.
Rehabilitation services provided through the MSHI system help improve patients’ quality of life and support their return to employment and active participation in society.
