Shymkent is expanding opportunities for children to enjoy a meaningful, safe and engaging summer vacation. Following its transfer to municipal ownership, the Mashat Arasan children’s camp has started a new season and, since August 15, has welcomed 281 children for its first ten-day session.
The camp provides free stays for children aged 7 to 16 from socially vulnerable and large families. All expenses related to the children’s stay and recreation are covered by the city budget. This gives children from families in need of social support an opportunity to spend their summer holidays in comfortable conditions.
Located in the picturesque Mashat Gorge, the camp offers favorable conditions for outdoor activities and active recreation. A variety of sports and creative activities have been organized for the children. They can play football, basketball and volleyball, as well as participate in chess and checkers clubs. The program also includes KVN competitions, quizzes, contests and various team activities.
The camp’s program is designed not only to provide children with enjoyable leisure time but also to encourage their intellectual, creative and social development. Team games and sports competitions help children build communication skills, develop teamwork and make new friends. Creative activities, meanwhile, give them an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and abilities.
Particular attention is paid to the safety and comfort of the children. Experienced educators, counselors and sports instructors work throughout each session. They organize the children’s daily routine, accompany them during activities and monitor compliance with safety requirements.
The children are provided with five meals a day, ensuring that they receive adequate nutrition during their active days at the camp. The daily schedule combines sports, creative activities, educational programs and free time, allowing children to balance active recreation with rest.
The first ten-day session will end on August 25. However, the development of the camp will continue. Starting next year, up to eight sessions are planned to be organized at Mashat Arasan. This will increase the number of children who can take part in organized summer recreation and expand access to the camp’s services.
The comfortable and heated cottages located on the camp grounds also create an opportunity for year-round operation. In the future, children may be able to enjoy recreational, educational and development programs not only during the summer but throughout the year.
The transfer of Mashat Arasan to municipal ownership has opened new opportunities for developing children’s recreation in Shymkent. More sessions and the prospect of year-round operation will make it possible to accommodate more children, provide them with safe and meaningful leisure, and encourage their interest in sports, creativity and learning.
