At the House of Friendship in Shymkent, members of Polling Station No. 4 are welcoming citizens who have come to vote in the elections of Kurultai deputies while wearing traditional Kazakh national costumes.
The traditional outfits stand out for their colors, ornaments and decorative elements. The initiative highlights respect for national culture and creates a special atmosphere on the day of the important political campaign.
According to Kyzylgul Kulbayeva, chairperson of the polling station commission, the idea to welcome voters in national dress came from the commission members themselves. The main goal is to create a positive atmosphere for residents and promote the tradition of jointly taking part in important decisions for the country.
“We wanted to emphasize the special significance of this day, create a festive atmosphere and showcase the richness of our national culture. Traditional dress represents the continuity of generations, as well as respect for traditions and shared values. We want election day to be remembered as a symbol of national unity,” said Zhanserik Kenenbayev.
Seven members of the commission are working at the polling station, and all of them are wearing national costumes. The chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary and four commission members are registering voters, issuing ballots and explaining the voting procedure.
The initiative by the polling station commission members has become a distinctive example of combining civic responsibility with respect for national cultural heritage.
A total of 881 voters are registered at Polling Station No. 4. Three voting booths have been installed and all necessary conditions have been provided. A barrier-free environment has also been arranged for citizens with special needs.
Starting from 7:00 a.m., residents of Shymkent and representatives of ethnocultural associations have been able to take part in the voting.
