Kazakhstan’s national team has returned home after an outstanding performance at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO 2026), earning five medals at one of the world’s most prestigious academic competitions for high school students.
The team was welcomed in a ceremonial reception at Almaty International Airport after competing in Suzhou, China, where nearly 300 talented students from 61 countries took part in the global contest.
Kazakhstan’s students delivered an impressive result, winning one gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, reaffirming the country’s growing reputation for excellence in international academic competitions.
Kazakhstan’s Medal Winners
The members of the national team who received medals at IEO 2026 are:
- Batyrkhan Mukhtarkhan – 11th-grade student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS), Astana;
- Dinmukhammed Kemelov – 11th-grade student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS), Almaty;
- Altair Zhaparov – 11th-grade student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS), Almaty;
- Aruzhan Sultanbek – 11th-grade student at Miras International School, Almaty;
- Temirlan Kuanyshbek – 10th-grade student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS), Almaty.
Their success reflects months of intensive preparation and highlights the high standard of secondary education in Kazakhstan.
Experienced Coaches Behind the Success
The national team was guided by experienced mentors who played a key role in preparing the students for the international competition:
- Ruslan Muldashev – Head Coach of Kazakhstan’s National Economics Olympiad Team;
- Zere Zharlagapova – Methodologist at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn.”
The close cooperation between the students and their coaches enabled Kazakhstan to achieve one of its strongest results in recent editions of the International Economics Olympiad.

Upon their arrival at Almaty International Airport, the medalists and their coaches were warmly welcomed by family members, friends, colleagues, and representatives of Kazakhstan’s education community.
The team received congratulations for successfully representing the country on the international stage and demonstrating exceptional knowledge and analytical skills in economics.
