A six-year-old child caused a car fire in a residential courtyard in Semey after playing with matches. The incident occurred on July 15 at around 6:05 p.m. in the 352nd quarter of the city.
According to law enforcement authorities, police officers reviewed footage from nearby surveillance cameras and determined that the fire was caused by the child playing with matches.
The child reportedly lit a match, which accidentally led to the vehicle catching fire. The incident resulted in material damage to the parked car.
Since the child is a minor and has not reached the age of legal responsibility, the damage caused will be fully compensated by the parents or legal guardians.
The parents may also face administrative measures for failing to properly fulfill their responsibilities related to child upbringing and safety.
Authorities remind parents to ensure children are supervised and to keep matches, lighters, and other fire-hazardous items out of children’s reach.
