Kazakhstan continues to implement a programme to renovate regional multidisciplinary hospitals aimed at improving access to specialized medical care across the country.
Since the beginning of 2026, 26 new specialized departments with a total capacity of 403 beds have been opened at inpatient hospitals. The departments cover seven of the most in-demand areas: gastroenterology, rheumatology, pulmonology, endocrinology, nephrology, hematology and cardiology.
The new departments are intended to ensure that residents can receive diagnosis and treatment closer to home, without having to travel to regional or national medical centres.
In Aktobe Region, two new departments — gastroenterology and nephrology — have been opened, with 16 beds each. A rheumatology department had previously been established there.
In Kostanay Region, new facilities include a 25-bed gastroenterology department, a 20-bed endocrinology department and a 30-bed pulmonology department.
In Kyzylorda Region, rheumatology and gastroenterology departments with 20 beds each have been opened. In Pavlodar Region, pulmonology and gastroenterology departments have been established, with 20 beds each.
In the Zhetisu Region, a 10-bed pulmonology department, a 15-bed gastroenterology department and a 10-bed nephrology department have been opened.
As part of the programme, hospital bed capacity is being reorganized based on the actual healthcare needs of the population.
The expansion of specialized departments will help ensure earlier diagnosis and treatment, allowing patients to receive timely care and reducing the risk of complications.
At the same time, the organization of medical services is being improved through the development of telemedicine, the establishment of centres of expertise, and the introduction of modern approaches to the training and professional development of medical personnel in the regions.
