ASTANA, Kazakhstan — A total of 1,344 people have been released under Kazakhstan’s amnesty law, authorities announced.
Among those released, 620 inmates were freed from correctional institutions and placed under administrative supervision in accordance with national legislation.
Another 724 individuals were released from probation supervision and exempted from serving the remainder of their sentences.
In addition, the prison terms of 730 convicted persons have been reduced.
Since the amnesty law came into force, courts across the country have received more than 10,000 notifications regarding the release of eligible inmates. The implementation of the amnesty program is ongoing.
