In 2026, authorities in Kazakhstan’s Turkistan Region plan to provide 1,450 citizens with non-repayable state grants to help launch and develop new business ideas as part of a program supporting entrepreneurship.
The grant program is being implemented in two stages. The first application period took place from June 24 to July 7, 2026.
A total of 1,542 applications were submitted for grants supporting new business initiatives across the region. Commission meetings to evaluate business projects were held from July 13 to 15 and were broadcast live on social media to ensure transparency.
Out of all applicants, 1,405 people participated in the project presentations, while 137 applicants did not attend for unknown reasons. Following the evaluation process, the commission approved 729 business projects, and their authors were awarded government grants.
Among the grant recipients are:
- 1 recipient of targeted social assistance;
- 528 members of large families;
- 119 people with disabilities;
- 53 parents raising a child with a disability;
- 22 citizens who have lost their family breadwinner;
- 1 Qandas (ethnic Kazakh repatriate).
The grants will be used to establish and expand businesses in a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, technical services, livestock and poultry farming, vegetable production, handicrafts, and the food industry.
The regional government says the grant program is an important tool for encouraging entrepreneurship, creating new jobs, and supporting sustainable economic development in Turkistan Region.
