Shymkent hosted another “People’s Lawyer” campaign organized by the Office of the Akim of Shymkent. The initiative aims to improve public legal awareness, expand access to qualified legal assistance, and strengthen public trust in state institutions.
The campaign brought together representatives of government agencies, law enforcement authorities, and the legal community. Throughout the event, residents received free legal consultations from specialists of local executive bodies, territorial government agencies, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, investigators, private bailiffs, attorneys, notaries, and other experienced legal professionals. This format enables citizens to obtain expert advice on a wide range of legal issues in one location without having to visit multiple government offices.
The primary objective of the campaign was to provide timely legal assistance while promoting legal literacy among the public. Every visitor had the opportunity to discuss individual legal concerns, receive guidance on current legislation, and learn about the available mechanisms for protecting their lawful rights and interests.
As in previous campaigns, the majority of inquiries focused on land-related issues. Residents sought information about waiting lists for land plots, land acquisition for public needs, legalization and registration of land ownership, and other matters related to land legislation. Housing issues also remained a priority, including housing waiting lists, privatization of state-owned housing, property registration procedures, and other aspects of housing law.
Many participants also raised questions concerning the development of Shymkent’s urban infrastructure. Residents discussed neighborhood improvements, construction of engineering networks, road maintenance, public transportation, and the modernization of municipal services. Representatives of local executive authorities provided explanations regarding current urban development programs and accepted individual requests for further consideration in accordance with established legal procedures.
Another important area of consultation involved the protection of citizens’ rights. Residents whose rights had been violated in various circumstances sought assistance from law enforcement officials, lawyers, and legal experts. Each applicant received detailed information about the legal remedies available, procedures for filing complaints with the appropriate authorities, and the necessary legal steps for resolving their cases.
Labor law issues also attracted significant attention. Specialists advised citizens on wage payment disputes, protection of employees’ rights, occupational safety requirements, prevention of workplace injuries, and mechanisms for resolving labor conflicts. Participants received practical guidance on labor legislation and available legal protections in employment-related matters.
Events such as the “People’s Lawyer” campaign play an important role in promoting transparency, improving public legal awareness, and increasing access to justice. By bringing together representatives of various government institutions and legal professions, the initiative provides citizens with direct access to reliable legal information and practical assistance, helping them resolve legal issues more efficiently.
At the conclusion of the campaign, 84 residents of Shymkent had received qualified legal consultations. According to the organizers, the continuing popularity of the “People’s Lawyer” initiative demonstrates its value as an effective platform for direct dialogue between citizens, government institutions, and the legal community. The campaign is expected to continue contributing to greater legal awareness, stronger rule of law, and more effective protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
