Kazakhstan’s nationwide fodder harvesting campaign is continuing, with farmers having already stockpiled 19.8 million tonnes of livestock feed, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The current volume represents approximately 77% of the planned hay requirement for the upcoming 2026–2027 winter housing season. Harvesting operations are underway across all regions of the country in line with the approved schedule.
To date, agricultural producers have collected 17.1 million tonnes of hay, 1.5 million tonnes of haylage, 362,300 tonnes of concentrated feed, 91,700 tonnes of silage, and 777,200 tonnes of straw.
To ensure a stable winter feeding period and maintain emergency reserves, the state-owned Food Contract Corporation has established a fodder grain reserve totaling 201,300 tonnes. The reserve will be used to supply livestock producers with additional feed resources if necessary.
By the start of the 2026–2027 winter housing season, Kazakhstan plans to harvest 25.7 million tonnes of hay, 2.3 million tonnes of haylage, 2.8 million tonnes of silage, 4.8 million tonnes of straw, and 5.7 million tonnes of concentrated feed.
The Ministry of Agriculture, together with regional authorities, continues to closely monitor the progress of the fodder harvesting campaign. Ongoing monitoring and the timely formation of strategic reserves are aimed at ensuring livestock farms have sufficient feed supplies and that the winter season passes without disruption.
