Kazakhstan has entered the top 25 countries in the world in terms of e-government development, demonstrating significant progress in digital transformation, public service modernization, and the adoption of advanced technologies.
The Government of Kazakhstan, through the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, is implementing large-scale initiatives aimed at technological transformation, improving digital infrastructure, and expanding access to modern government services.
The year 2026 marks the beginning of a major implementation phase of initiatives launched within the framework of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, announced following the instructions of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This year, priority is being given to an action plan consisting of 8 strategic areas and 100 initiatives.
Kazakhstan Moves Toward the GovTech 3.0 Model
The government is continuing the complete digitalization of public services and the transition to the GovTech 3.0 model. At the same time, Kazakhstan is developing telecommunications infrastructure, providing systematic support for the IT sector, and launching innovative digital projects across key industries.
The foundation of these efforts is the national strategy “Digital Qazaqstan” for large-scale digitalization and widespread implementation of artificial intelligence technologies until 2029.
The strategy is designed to systematize global best practices and introduce digital solutions across all major sectors of the economy.
Artificial Intelligence as a Driver of Economic Growth
The government expects that the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence, along with the digital transformation of industry, mining, logistics, and energy sectors, will contribute an additional 1.5 percentage points on average to annual GDP growth by the end of 2029.
According to government estimates, the projected volume of comparative market investments over a three-year period is expected to range from $10.5 billion to $16.5 billion.
The development of e-government services, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence is considered one of the key factors strengthening Kazakhstan’s competitiveness and supporting the growth of a modern digital economy.
